What To Do When a Shoulder is Dislocated?

If the shoulder appears dislocated, it is important to get immediate medical help.
The following precautions may be taken before seeing a doctor:
●Do not attempt to move the shoulder or force it back into place. This can damage the joint and the tissues, nerves or blood vessels near it.
●Apply ice to the shoulder to help reduce pain and swelling. Icing the shoulder controls internal bleeding and the build-up of fluids in and around the shoulder joint.
●Place a folded blanket or soft pillow in the space between the arm and the chest to support the shoulder. If possible, secure the shoulder joint in its current position by means of a splint or sling.
