How will the Doctor Diagnose a Dislocated Shoulder?

The doctor will examine the joint for tenderness, swelling or deformity. An X-ray of the affected shoulder may be needed to confirm the dislocation and rule out fractures or other damage to your shoulder joint.
The doctor may need to know how the dislocation happened and whether the shoulder had ever been dislocated before.
